Be still my heart!

Today the Society of Design in PA (my home state) invited me to speak. In doing so, they created the most touching awesome thing I’ve ever seen and I spent the last hour and a half crying at my desk just amazed that 35 people would go out of their way to make me feel so loved and appreciated. On twenty-seven actual registered license plates, which individuals in the club now use on their cars, they invited me to visit.

Of course my answer is a resounding “YES! I will marry come to visit you!” In fact, not only will I come visit you, but I’m bringing each of you a present. Each of the 35 people listed on the site will receive an original drawing as my sincerest and most heart-felt appreciation for making me feel like the luckiest girl in the world. Already got started on two of them!

There are days when I wish I could hug the universe. Today is one of those days.

  1. Some days I think I’ve lost all faith in humanity. This is not one of them. Just… wow. After seeing what these guys did, I’m just astonished. What these lovely fellows did took some serious dedication. Warms my little heart right up to the brim, it does.

Well done, Society of Design, PA. You deserve all manners of love for this wonderful act, and I’m sure the internet won’t let it go unnoticed. :)

  2. An amazing invitation and equally amazing return gifts.

And now I want my own “ORK THAT” plate…

Now that’s an invitation design that you just can’t top. Thats an invitation that lasts much longer than when the recipient opens it, or even the day of the event, and that prolonged effect affects everyone involved. Just awesome. But you certainly deserve it Jessica!

  4. You’re crying and I’m smiling a big heart smile! So, so glad you loved our invite. We can’t wait for you to come! That is gift enough (although our names in your lettering is absolutely awesome!)

  5. Talk about an invitation that you just couldn’t turn down! That’s so great to see, must make you feel incredibly valued. Love that people still go that extra mile from time to time.

…so when are you speaking? :)

  6. Wow, it really turned out great! My husband “VATE AND” is involved with SOD and asked if I would mind participating. Our daughter Samantha is holding my plate “ISH MOTI” and was excited to see herself on the website. You are very kind to show your appreciation with a visit and the gifts.

  8. oh my goodness. i absolutely love everything about this. and i kind of feel giddy on your behalf; you must feel awesome! but you most definitely deserve it. i still think about stuff you told us a few months back.

and good on those 35 people! they are now driving cars made of win.

  9. This is a gesture, a gift, that you will get to treasure forever. Be so proud of yourself and all that you have accomplished. Congrats.

    Love,
    Jade

    Hello Dear Jessica,
I just had to write you because I came across you just a few days ago. I love to blog surf and somehow I ended up in one of your sites and I am so happy I did. Looking at your work feels like Christmas morning to me or the thrill of getting new art supplies, I can’t really decide. Anyway, I’m a mom and I’m …… Freaking forty years old. I used to design (nothing like what you do) before I became Mom! Which by the way is my favorite excuse for why I do nothing design related. But anyway, I just wanted to tell you in writing that you have inspired me in a million ways. I think that I might grab a pencil a soon as I finish this comment, and start sketching! Thank you for your beautiful illustrations and clever design, I can only imagine what a fantastic girl you are and how proud your parents must be of how accomplished you already are!
    PS- congrats on your engagement!

I feel like crying, that’s an amazing effort to put an invitation together. May it be an enriching for all. @Jon S. Am now seeing the ZE ASTON in my mind’s eye on an Audi Spyder, Bugatti Veyron…oh yes we’re designers, Toyota prius… uhm Toyota Tazz… Ford Fiesta, Opel Corsa, Fiat Punto… oh dear…

  12. How awesome is that! Kudos to SoD! What a classy move. Jessica, you’re a super hero! Who else gets that kind of love and adoration? A classy reply too. Nice :) My fav plate is “ORK THAT”

Hi jessica, i’m from Costa Rica, am waiting desperately your speech, all i want to say is thanks for coming to the FID. Your projects are awsome. I can’t wait to listen you on the stage, if you read this before go to the scenery, would be nice to get a pic with you. Not everyday a great designer like you, visit our country. Maybe we need to send license plates instead of glamorous invitations. kind regards, NELSON
